Toad with a penny in the mouth

Toad seemed to me an ugly animal. I was afraid the small animal when I was a young child. Until one day, I saw my father’s desk had one carving of toad with a penny in the mouth. At that time I was mid-twenty at university, and was curiosity about the carving. So I asked my father why he put an ugly animal on desk. My father said to me seriously. “Toad is a great symbol to Chinese. It says a toad with a penny in the mouth at your house will make your family well and rich.”Today I still remember father’s serious face at that day.

After my father die, my mother gave the carving to me. I put it on my desk too. I did found my family and my finance go smoothly. Of course, I am not rich, but life is O.K.

Then I retired, and my daughter got a clinic of herself. I transferred the caving to her. I do hope her clinic may keep well and finance go smoothly. I do not know what it will be in the future of the clinic, but so far so good.

I do hope the carving of toad with a penny in the mouth may keep my family well and rich as usual.

Introduction of TAFE library

TAFE has a library which may borrow books and videos to enrolled student in TAFE. Any student who wants to read book or watch video may go to library and borrow it. Normally print items may bring home for two weeks, and video only for one week. When student like to have book or video and read or see at home. He needs to bring his TAFE card with him and show the card to librarian. Then the student may bring book or video to home.

TAFE’s student may make photocopies or print from computers in library. All you need to do is bring your TAFE card with money in 15. Then you may have the documentary s you want. The cost of the photocopies or print is not expensive. It cost only 20 cents for an A4 copy and if you are the member of Student Association, you can get half price.

There are other services which the library may provide. You may get books or information in need from other TAFE’s library. You can ask the people of library and show them the library catalogue. They will get the books or information what you want for you.

There is one more good idea for ESL student. That is you may use library dictionary before you buy a new one. You may get a better and suitable dictionary which you really want.

With so many good services, The enrolled TAFE's student should go to library frequently.

New student's intoduction.

My name is Hsien- Jung Huang. Normally people call me David in english speaking country. Retiring from a steel company, I came to Australia with my wife for visiting my son. After arriving Sydney, I found the air was fresh, and weather was good too. Most of time the sky was blue when you raised your head. So I decided to live in Sydney. I thought living in Australia would help my bad health. all of my family were agree with the decision.



So, my daughter, my son moved to Kogarah and got a house for whole family. With my childen's acompany, it's a good life of first few months. Then I felt lonly when my son had to work in hospital and to take care of patients. My daughter had her own clicnic to care. Sometime, I could't do anything but reading book with my wife whole day.



One time I saw a advertisement about AMEP. I suddenly had an idea which was to enter the program. My whole family were agree with the idea. Because I have left school for many years.
it was a hard decision for me to enter AMEP at that time.

Finally I joined AMEP. After few day's course, I like the program. I think I will learn some english and have a few friends here.
